Starhub
Starhub: Competitor SingTel announced yesterday that it has gotten exclusive rights to the 2014 FIFA World Cup;
StarHub pay-TV viewers will still be able to watch the World Cup event (via cross carriage) from 12 Jun - 13 Jul 2014. PhillipCapital note that SingTel is offering free offer of the World Cup matches for pay-TV customers who sign up or extend their contracts for 24 months, as a measure to lock in customers.
Otherwise, customers (including those who contracted to watch BPL crossed carried on StarHub pay-TV platform) will have to pay a one-time price of $105 (excl GST) to view the World Cup matches.
Though this may have some impact on StarHub's prospects of gaining back share in the Pay TV market in the immediate to short term, House do not think it would have a significant impact overall.
PhillipCapital believe mobile will continue to be the key growth driver and maintain its ACCUMULATE rating for StarHub (TP $4.52).
