Haw Par: On the dengue virus, the authorities expect the number of dengue cases to hit the 10,000 mark over the past weekend, after a total of 9,960 cases has been reported for the year as of last friday. The authorities would be carrying out the actual count today.
The number of preventive measures have also increased with the heighten awareness on the outbreak of the virus. Sales of products which claims to fight the Aedes mosquito, which are sold in home-fix stores, supermarkets and department stores, have reported as much as a 30% rise in the past month.
Tiger Balm, which produces mosquito repellents, ointments and patches, is wholly owned by Haw Par Corp. Haw Par's healthcare segment (Tiger Balm) contributes 71% of revenues and 57.5% earnings to the group for FY12.
At the current price of $7.06, Haw Par trades at 12.8x trailing P/E and 0.65x P/B.
