Tiger Airways

Tiger Airways: Expectations that the haze situation would be prolonged till Sept-Oct due to the dry spell, Singaporeans/ Malaysians could perhaps be looking to travel on the weekends to avoid the haze. Low-cost carrier Tiger Airways could see a positive uptick in traffic for June, above the peak season during the school holidays. For Tiger Airways, the group had posted 2 consecutive months (Apr and May) of an operational improvement, following its FY13 results. If the upcoming Jun operational data presents yet another month of improvement, the low-cost carrier could surprise street estimates on its 1QFY14 results (due 26 Jul). At the current level of $0.61, the counter is trading below its 12-month consensus TP of $0.69. After channel checks, flights on Tiger Airways going out to our neighbouring countries that isn't as affected by the haze situation have shown that prices have risen significantly, or are sold out. Amongst others, popular flights: Jakarta is sold out for the weekend; Bangkok flights are sold out for the weekend. KL has limited flights, available flights costs 25% above its normal rate of $130; Penang has limited flights, available flights costs at least 50% above its normal rate of $180;
