SIA Engineering has set up a JV with Boeing to provide fleet management services, in an attempt to better serve respective customers in Asia Pacific.
Upon obtaining the green light from relevant antitrust regulators, both parties have incorporated a JV company, Boeing Asia Pacific Aviation Services (BAPAS), SIA Engineering owning a 49% stake and Boeing the other 51%.
The new set-up will provide customizable and comprehensive engineering solutions, materials management and fleet support solutions for the 737, 747, 777, and 787 Boeing aircraft models.
The group believes BAPAS can help develop its fleet management business, which specialises in Boeing airplanes, and opens up more long term opportunities for downstream MRO business.
SIA Engineering now has 27 JVs with various aerospace original equipment manufacturers (OEMs) and strategic partners in nine different countries.
The counter currently trades at 24.4x FY3/16e P/E. The street has 1 Buy, 4 Hold and 3 Sell ratings with a consensus TP of $3.42
