Hongkong Land/ Jardine Matheson
Hongkong Land/ Jardine Matheson: As part of the MSCI's semi-annual index review in Nov 2015, companies traded outside of their home countries (i.e. foreign-listed companies) will be eligible for inclusion to the MSCI Global Investable Market Indexes.
More specifically, these foreign-listed companies will be eligible for inclusion in both the MSCI Global Indexes and the MSCI Country Indexes, if they represent a material proportion of the index market capitalization.
For example, NYSE-listed Alibaba will be eligible for potential inclusion into both the MSCI China Index and the MSCI Emerging Markets Index. This will draw a broader pool of investors for the company and greater liquidity flows to the specific index trackers.
SGX-listed counters which could benefit from the MSCI changes include Jardine Matheson and Hongkong Land.
