DBS

DBS: The Business Times reported that DBS is awaiting regulatory approval to open a branch in Sydney, in what would be the bank's maiden debut in Australia. The new branch is expected to focus on the corporate banking business, and would grant it exposure to a new region. DBS already services some big Australian corporates in Singapore, and its move to Australia will enable it to facilitate trade financing flows for these companies around Asia Pacific, and also extend its regional connectivity. On its other expansion plans, the bank aims to look at Coutts when it comes on the block, and is also looking to scale up in India, where it now has 12 branches.
