SIA/ Tigerair
SIA/ Tigerair: Dow Jones says the plan by SIA to make struggling budget carrier Tigerair its subsidiary is likely to help the flag carrier more aggressively pursue discount air travel business.
Tigerair, currently a 40% associate of SIA , will become a 55%-owned subsidiary as SIA will convert its perpetual convertible capital securities into shares.
Tigerair currently has a limited partnership with Scoot, SIA's budget long-haul unit and the two airlines have said they want to expand the partnership to sell more joint itineraries and time flights that will allow passengers to connect more easily. Tigerair and Scoot may become feeder airlines into each others' networks, on the lines of SIA and its regional unit SilkAir
