M1

M1 makes foray into the pay-TV mkt but only to existing broadband subscribers. Generally positive as it completes quad offerings (voice + broadband + fixed line + pay TV), allowing M1 to maximize usage of NGN pdt suite.Rent for the 1box is at $5-$12. Content will be focused on 3 areas. Educational content is offered at $2.14/mth, Music and Games for $5.95/mth, Movies on pay-per-view basis ranging $3.21-5.35…

Initial reaction is positive for M1, negative for Starhub and SingTel. However, the take-up rate will depend on the 1) content offered 2) penetration of M1 broadband currently. Goldman est that Sg pay-TV penetration at 50% is low and mkt shld grow to 75%-80% of households.
